The Imperial base on Nevarro was established as part of the Imperial expansion on the planet of Nevarro. Following the collapse of the Galactic Empire, Gideon's Imperial remnant assumed control of the base. Constructed into the side of a cliff that overlooked a canyon, the base featured a landing platform and several vehicles. These included four Outland TIE fighters, one Trexler 906 Armored Marauder, and a number of 74-Z speeder bikes. For defense, the base was equipped with multiple gun emplacements on its roof and guarded by stormtroopers.
In the year 9 ABY, Din Djarin, accompanied by Carasynthia Dune, Greef Karga, and a Mythrol, infiltrated the base with the intention of detonating the reactor. During their subsequent escape attempt, they stumbled upon cloning tanks. These tanks contained the remnants of Doctor Penn Pershing's unsuccessful experiments, a series of strandcasts that expired after catastrophic attempts to infuse Grogu’s, a Force-sensitive Jedi youngling, genetic potential for power in the Force through blood and midi-chlorian transfusions. The blood and midi-chlorian transfusions were meant to unlock Grogu's latent power in the Force. Two scientists present in the room were killed, along with the majority of the base's staff. A few scout troopers in addition to TIE pilots gave chase to the escaping group, who fled using the Armored Marauder that they had seized from the base.
The Imperial base was featured in "Chapter 12: The Siege" of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ series created by Jon Favreau. The episode was directed by Carl Weathers and released on November 20, 2020. Phil Szostak, a creative art manager and author at Lucasfilm, revealed on his Twitter account that the exterior platform of the Nevarro base was inspired by the Eadu base seen in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, while its interior design followed the established Imperial aesthetic common throughout the Star Wars franchise.
