Within established Star Wars canon, the initial reference to Fabrin occurred in the seventy-second issue of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series by De Agostini, which was available around May 18, 2016. The planet named Fabrin was originally part of the Star Wars Legends storyline, with its debut appearance in The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, a reference book by W. Haden Blackman published in 2004.
