During the Galactic Civil War, Admiral Feyet Kiez was a member of the Galactic Empire's navy. Before 5 BBY arrived, he took command of the first Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, named the Empire. He later deserted Anaxes, a planet, with the Whelm, a Super Star Destroyer, more than a decade later. The Whelm then reappeared during the early campaigns of the reborn Galactic Emperor Palpatine.
In the Galactic Empire's navy during the Galactic Civil War, Feyet Kiez achieved the rank of admiral. He assumed command of the Empire, the first Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, by 5 BBY. The Star Destroyer's crew was specially chosen as some of the best within the Empire, and the vessel's purpose was to seize Rebel Alliance supply convoys along with medical ships.

Kiez and the crew under his command escaped the Core Worlds planet of Anaxes with the Whelm, an Executor-class Star Dreadnaught Super Star Destroyer belonging to the Azure Hammer Command located on Anaxes, a few months before the Thrawn campaign in 9 ABY. When Osted Wermis, the Imperial commandant of Anaxes, gave the planet up to the New Republic, he communicated his bewilderment regarding Kiez's motivations. New Republic Intelligence considered Kiez's vanishing act, along with the Whelm, to be the most concerning piece of information out of several similar accounts of high-ranking Imperials disappearing with warships.
Kiez, in reality, had piloted the Whelm to the Deep Core, where Palpatine, the Galactic Emperor, had called upon Imperial forces loyal to him after being resurrected on Byss, a Deep Core world, following his death during 4 ABY. The Whelm later took part in the Emperor's early campaigns after his rebirth.
The sourcebook Starships of the Galaxy, written by Owen K.C. Stephens and released in 2001 by Wizards of the Coast for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, was the first time Feyet Kiez was mentioned.
