Fi'lang

Featuring a blade with a curve, the fi'lang served as the age-old fighting knife for the reptilian Trogodile species. In the year 22 BBY, the Trogodile known as Swyy'm-Ee made use of two fi'langs in a gladiatorial contest held within the Cauldron, a combat arena situated on the planet of Rattatak. Tragically, Swyy'm-Ee met his end during the fight when the Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress brought about his demise.

Description

The fi'lang was a combat knife with a curved blade, enhanced by two sharpened points: one at the blade's tip and another along the curve's inner edge. The size and prominence of the inner spike varied from one fi'lang to another. This weapon could be used in one hand, which allowed a warrior to wield a pair of fi'langs at the same time. The hilt, secured with straps, was colored brown, while the blade displayed shades of white and light blue.

History

Swyy'm-Ee, wielding fi'langs, faces off against Flalios.

The fi'lang was the traditional weapon of the Trogodiles, a sentient reptilian species. Back in 22 BBY, the inaugural year of the Clone Wars, the Trogodile known as Swyy'm-Ee was compelled to participate in a gladiatorial match held within the Cauldron, a sizable fighting arena situated on the planet of Rattatak. Throughout the match, Swyy'm-Ee brandished a pair of fi'langs, even facing off against a fellow gladiator named Flalios at one point. However, the Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress intervened during the match, employing her Force powers to drop a massive rock upon Swyy'm-Ee, resulting in the Trogodile's death.

Behind the scenes

The fi'lang made its initial appearance, though without a name, in the sixth chapter of the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series for television. Its original broadcast took place on Cartoon Network on November 15, 2003. The weapon received the name fi'lang later, within the pages of the Ultimate Sticker Book: Star Wars: Clone Wars, which saw publication in 2004.
