The scientist and Jedi Knight named Cray Mingla, also known as Doctor Mingla, belonged to the New Jedi Order. She was the offspring of Margolis and the niece of Sophra.

As a student of Stinna Draesinge Sha, Doctor Mingla was considered one of the most important innovators in the field of artificial intelligence throughout the galaxy. She shared a romantic relationship with her partner, Nichos Marr. Cray was known for her refined tastes and always kept herself well-groomed and fashionable.
In the year 11 ABY, Nichos actively pursued testing to determine his Force sensitivity, with Cray accompanying him. They both arrived at Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy, where Luke confirmed their Force sensitivity. Subsequently, they underwent Jedi training and achieved the rank of Jedi Knights.
Cray soon discovered Nichos's diagnosis of Quannot's Syndrome. Despite this, she persisted in her Jedi training, dedicating herself to rigorous practice each morning. During the night, she employed hypnosis and drug therapies to stay awake and dedicated herself to research, hoping to save her lover's life. Her expertise in the field had earned her a doctorate at the prestigious Magrody Institute, and she successfully transferred her lover's consciousness into a droid body using forbidden Ssi-ruuk technology.
The two Jedi Knights joined Luke Skywalker on his mission to undermine the Eye of Palpatine. Circumstances forced the Jedi to separate, and Cray was captured by agents of the Empire. During her brutal beating, Nichos was made to watch her suffer. Due to a restraining bolt placed on his body, he—being partially a droid—was powerless to intervene. Cray came to the realization that Nichos's spirit had never truly transferred into the droid body. The droid Nichos, while resembling her lover, was merely a droid, a fact that could not be altered. Following Nichos's death on board the Eye of Palpatine, Cray willingly gave her own body to the spirit of Callista, seeking death to reunite with her deceased lover.
Cray Mingla holds the unfortunate distinction of being among the earliest casualties from the restored Jedi Academy.
During 13 ABY, Callista adopted Cray's name as an assumed identity while on Nam Chorios.
