The Kalaanite resistance was a group of Kalaanites who were in opposition to the Galactic Empire. Prior to the Battle of Kalaan, Kalaan was a world aligned with the Rebel Alliance; however, during that battle, Imperial forces drove the Alliance off the planet and destroyed Kalaan City. Despite this defeat, the Kalaanite resistance continued its attacks against Imperial forces. The Empire inflicted severe damage on Kalaan, stripping away all its plant life. Most resistance fighters were lightly armed infantry employing guerrilla warfare tactics, though some heavier infantry units also existed. The Kalaanites also succeeded in capturing several AT-STs, which they then used against the Empire. In 3 ABY, a number of resistance fighters assisted Brenn Tantor in his defection, helping him and Luke Skywalker traverse Kalaan's terrain to reach Tyr Taskeen's Rebel base, which was in the process of being evacuated.
