Quickclay

Leia Organa, stuck fast in quickclay

Quickclay refers to a specific type of adhesive, greenish-gray earth. This soil was commonly found on Mimban, also known as Circarpous V. Its dangerous nature stemmed from its instability under pressure. This instability meant that objects or beings could be drawn into it and held fast, in a manner similar to quicksand. Its consistency was firmer than that of mud or sand, possessing properties more akin to clay.

A quantity of quickclay, originally sourced from Circarpous V and brought to her Tatooine palace, was included among the collection of exotic (and mainly predatory) plants and animals within Gardulla the Hutt's pleasure garden. During an escape from pursuing trackers within the garden, a young Anakin Skywalker inadvertently entered a quickclay area. He sank his arm up to the elbow in the green substance but was ultimately able to free himself. Gondry, a clumsy Abyssin cyclops giant, experienced a more difficult situation. His large, awkward frame sank up to his armpits before Anakin provided a tree branch, aiding the dim-witted creature in escaping what could have been its final resting place.

Following an emergency landing on Circarpous V, Princess Leia Organa found herself immobilized in a quickclay deposit. However, she was soon rescued from this predicament by Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and C-3PO.
