First Alsakan Conflict

The First Alsakan Conflict represents a period of armed struggle between the worlds of Coruscant and Alsakan, spanning from the year 17,018 Before the Battle of Yavin (BBY) to 16,700 BBY.

Background

During the era known as the Great Manifest Period, Alsakan and Coruscant, both planets, engaged in intense competition to control various worlds within the Expansion Region located in the Slice, driven by the desire for colonization and acquisition of natural resources. This competitive dynamic intensified throughout the period, further exacerbated by the political maneuvering within the Galactic Senate and actions of other influential figures.

The Armed Struggle

Around the year 17,000 BBY, Alsakan spearheaded an initiative involving worlds along the Perlemian Trade Route, aiming to impede the activities of the Grand Companies—the primary trading entities operating along the Core section of both the Corellian Run and the Metellos Trade Route. This was achieved by expanding southward and asserting control over resource-abundant systems. Alsakan received support from several noble families situated within the Core Worlds, who possessed holdings within the Expansion Region, including House Juoni originating from Kaikielius. The Grand Companies voiced strong opposition to this maneuver, resulting in clashes between Duros freighters and Alsakani warships.

The Republic sided with the Duros merchants, thereby instigating a full-scale war between the opposing factions when they attacked Virujansi in 17,018 BBY. Six years later, Alsakan forces successfully liberated the aforementioned planet. Corellia chose to maintain a neutral stance, focusing on safeguarding its vested interests within the Rim territories. Significant engagements during this conflict included the Battle of Kes in 16,921 BBY, the First Siege of Porus Vida in 16,820 BBY, and the Siege of Belasco, which commenced in 16,800 BBY.

The Bureau of Ships and Services brought the First Alsakan Conflict to a conclusion in 16,700 BBY by threatening to restrict access to the system of hyperspace beacons. Hostilities were later renewed, approximately 500 years later in 16,200 BBY.

Repercussions

This conflict marked the initial instance of a series of seventeen confrontations between the two planets, predominantly occurring within the Expansion Region. The final attempt by Alsakan took place in 3017 BBY. With the exceptions of the sixth and seventh conflicts, the subsequent fourteen conflicts largely adhered to a consistent pattern: Alsakan entering into conflict with the Republic, while Corellia sought to preserve its neutrality.

The territories of House Juoni within the Expansion Region suffered complete devastation as a result of orbital bombardments during the conflict, and the leaders of the House were incarcerated within the Centax-1 Maximum Correctional prison facility. The few surviving members of the Juoni family rapidly lost their influence, leading to Kaikielius falling under the control of the rival Houses Praji and Vahali.
