The second trial among the three that Darth Vader assigned to Galen Marek, involved Marek's objective to eliminate the mentally unstable Jedi Kazdan Paratus. This endeavor transported the apprentice to the scrap heap planet of Raxus Prime, where the fallen Jedi Master had isolated himself, consumed by the act of recreating the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. Guarded by a legion of junk golems constructed by Paratus, Marek faced a considerable challenge in his attempt to penetrate the junk-constructed temple.
Having battled through the hordes of junk golems and a group of Rodian scavengers scouring the junkyard in hopes of salvaging valuable materials, the Dark Jedi confronted Paratus within the Raxus Prime's imitation of the High Council Chamber. In the resulting conflict, Paratus met his end, and Vader assured his apprentice that this triumph brought him closer to his ultimate purpose: the assassination of Emperor Palpatine.
Darth Vader once again summoned his secret apprentice. He revealed that his intelligence network had pinpointed the location of another Jedi residing on Raxus Prime. This Jedi was identified as Kazdan Paratus, recognized as a significantly more formidable adversary than any Galen Marek had previously encountered. Lord Vader conveyed his skepticism regarding his apprentice's survival. However, he stated that success would advance him further toward his destiny—a confrontation with Emperor Palpatine himself.
Marek embraced his assignment, piloting the Rogue Shadow towards his upcoming target.

Landing amidst the expansive junkyard, Marek navigated through the mountains of waste, engaging droid warriors animated by the Force. As he fought his way toward the distant junk Temple, Marek encountered junk golems, Rodian scavengers, and a multitude of other adversaries.
Approaching the Temple, the Sith apprentice encountered the Rodian leader, Drexl Roosh. Drexl, a bounty hunter, commanded his followers to assault the assassin, aiming to prevent his entry into the Temple, both to claim a reward from the Empire and to avenge his earlier interrogation by Marek. However, they were swiftly defeated, and Marek proceeded toward the Temple.
After navigating the junk-laden world, Marek reached Paratus's imitation Temple and faced a Junk Titan equipped with a pair of large vibro-axs and various weapons attached to its other limbs. This construct spoke with Paratus's voice and expressed intense anger at Marek's intrusion. The Sith apprentice evaded the Titan's attacks, and as the floor gave way under the Titan's weight, he used a telekinetic punch to dislodge one of its weapons. Evading another assault by the golem, slicing as he moved, Marek removed more of its armaments. He rolled under the machine's legs and slashed its spine, inflicting a deep wound.
The crippled machine attempted to turn toward the man, but he used his lightsaber to sever both of its vibro-axe wielding arms, forcing it to drop one axe. He unleashed a barrage of lightning upon the machine, focusing all his power. Its photoreceptors, the droid's equivalent of "eyes," ceased functioning, yet it still advanced on Marek with its remaining ax. The apprentice used the Force to push the creature, knocking it off one of its legs, sending it crashing through the Temple walls. Marek followed, ultimately defeating it within a junk-constructed version of the High Council Chamber of the Jedi Temple, complete with junk effigies of deceased or missing council members.

From an opening in the machine's front emerged the Jedi Master Marek sought. Paratus vowed to protect the "Masters," and the mannequins began to move, diverting the apprentice's attention. Paratus lunged at the intruder, slightly scoring a cut along Marek's left arm before the attack was blocked. Although Marek retaliated, his attacks were consistently blocked or missed due to the Jedi's constant leaping and the Aleena's weapon. The invader unleashed a volley of lightning against Paratus, noticing that Paratus exhibited an extreme aversion to the electric pulses. He bombarded Paratus with increasing amounts of lightning, but suddenly, the apprentice was struck from behind, causing his lightsaber to fall from his hand.

He turned to find the junk version of Plo Koon standing behind him in a Form V stance, wielding a vibroblade in place of a lightsaber. After a moment of surprise, the apprentice used the Force to shatter the patchwork tribute and reclaimed his lightsaber, deflecting an attack from the recovered Paratus. More "Masters," including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker, attempted to confront the apprentices, but all were destroyed. With each "death," Paratus clutched his chest in increasing pain and despair at their loss, weeping as the last one fell to the apprentice. Paratus then attempted to hurl a large engine at Marek. Marek blocked the projectile and sent it hurtling back toward the tiring Jedi Master. Paratus jumped to evade the flying engine, and the battle shifted to a narrow ledge above the Council Chamber. Paratus attempted to strike at Marek, who easily deflected the attack. Paratus then attempted to push Marek back, however the push was sent hurtling back toward the Jedi Master, who was unable to block the ferocious attack and was slammed into a wall. Paratus then ran up the wall using his suit to climb up the wall, but was quickly followed by Marek. Paratus then jumped down onto a second ledge and Marek then through the engine core at him. Paratus blocked this and sent it flying back towards Marek, but Marek was too strong and after charging up his attack, sent the engine flying back towards the Jedi Master. Marek's power was too great and the engine slammed into Kazdan Paratus and pinned him to the floor, mortally wounding him.
As he lay dying with his eyes closed, Paratus uttered his last words, apologizing to the Masters for failing them yet again. Paratus then became one with the Force and his body disappeared in a flash.
Marek returned to his ship and left for his next mission.
