Frangawl Temple

The Frangawl Temple, situated on the planet Bardotta, served as an old fortress for the Frangawl Cult. After the Frangawl culture declined and lost its political power on the planet, the prosperous Dagoyan Order took control of the Temple. They then constructed their Royal Palace on top of the natural spire that crowned the Temple.

Overview

Nestled within a natural maze beneath a prominent spire on Bardotta, the Frangawl Temple was once the stronghold of an ancient warrior cult. This cult had previously dominated the planet and engaged in constant warfare. Reflecting the cult's history of violence, the Temple cave featured war symbols carved into the walls, murals depicting centuries of battles, and corroded cages hanging from the cave ceiling. A carved representation of Malmourral, the Frangawl's war demon, stood as the focal point of the cavern. The dragon-like statue, positioned at an angle, had its tail terminating in a pool of magma originating from the planet's depths. During Frangawl arcane rituals, the dragon statue's mouth would be filled with a swirling mystical energy. This energy would drain the Living Force from anyone thrown into Malmourral's maw. The sacrificed individual's lifeless form would then fall through the statue's interior before being consumed by the molten lava at the tail's end.

Following the Frangawl society's downfall around 2000 BBY, the Temple was abandoned. Its entrance was located at the base of a tall natural spire. When the Royal Palace was built into the spire's slopes above, the cave system's entrance became a sacred location, adorned with prayer flags and Dagoyan banners. While entering the catacombs was not prohibited, few ventured into the caves or contemplated the mystical significance that had been forgotten. During the Clone Wars, the Frangawl Cult experienced a revival, kidnapping several important Dagoyan Masters and reestablishing their order within the Temple cave. The Frangawl cultists used their knowledge of Malmourral's rituals to sacrifice captured Masters in the dragon statues. This was done to generate a power source for the mysterious offworlder known as Talzin. Jedi Master Mace Windu, who was investigating the disappearances of the Dagoyan Masters, infiltrated the Temple and brought an end to the ritual.
