Padmé Amidala's funeral
The ceremonial funeral of Senator Padmé Amidala marked a formal farewell after her passing. This event occurred in 19 BBY within Theed, the capital city of Naboo.
Overview
Following Amidala's demise during childbirth on Polis Massa, her remains journeyed back to Naboo for traditional funeral observances. To conceal the survival of Amidala's twins, her body was prepared to project the illusion of continued pregnancy. Ryoo Thule, her grandmother from her mother's side, supervised the funeral arrangements, adhering to Naboo's established customs.

Amidala's corpse, transported through Theed's thoroughfares via a four-gualaar drawn carriage, appeared submerged in a watery container, emphasized by her blue-toned funeral attire and deliberately arranged hair. The japor snippet gifted by her secret spouse, Anakin Skywalker, thirteen years prior, was placed within her clasped hands. Thousands of attendees observed or participated in the procession. Leading the march were Queen Apailana, Boss Rugor Nass, Representative Jar Jar Binks, Governor Sio Bibble, Amidala's family, and her former handmaidens, serving as pallbearers. Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda discreetly watched Amidala's final rites from Senator Bail Organa's starship, named the Sundered Heart. They avoided closer proximity to prevent detection by the Empire, convinced that Emperor Palpatine would be closely monitoring the event.
While Naboo's traditions called for cremation at the Theed Funeral Temple and the scattering of ashes into the Solleu River from the bridge linking Livet Tower to the temple, Padmé Amidala's body was instead entombed within a stone sarcophagus. This sarcophagus, adorned with the Naboo emblem, was housed in a private mausoleum.
Aftermath
Senator Silya Shessaun, a friend and colleague of Amidala, endeavored to initiate an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Amidala's unexpected death. Emperor Palpatine, recently appointed, obstructed Shessaun's efforts, citing "security concerns."
Sabé, Amidala's former handmaiden, shared in the frustration over the limited information available about her friend and former mistress's demise. She eventually forged a friendship with Senator Bail Organa and became one of his key operatives. Organa also enlisted her to instruct Amidala's daughter, Leia, and her companion Winter, encompassing subjects from etiquette and bureaucracy to more specialized skills.
Six months following the funeral, Inquisitor Malorum journeyed to Naboo, seeking details about Amidala and her pregnancy, suspecting the survival of her offspring. He interrogated Ryoo Thule, who had overseen her granddaughter's funeral. Upon her refusal to divulge the requested information, he murdered her.
Furthermore, Captain Gregar Typho, Amidala's head of security, launched an investigation into the late Senator's mysterious death, driven by his unreciprocated affection for her. Typho ultimately concluded that Darth Vader was responsible for Amidala's death. In their confrontation, the Sith Lord struck him down. Before succumbing to his injuries, Typho derived some satisfaction from witnessing the evident distress Amidala's name caused Vader. Vader himself would later visit the mausoleum containing her remains, where he grieved.
