Ryoo Thule

Ryoo Thule, a Human woman hailing from Naboo, was the parent of Jobal Naberrie. She was also the maternal grandmother to both Sola Naberrie and Padmé Amidala. Further, she was the great-grandmother to Ryoo, Pooja Naberrie, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa.

In 19 BBY, she met her demise at the hands of the Inquisitor Malorum in Varykino. This occurred after he aggressively demanded more information concerning Amidala's pregnancy and the circumstances of her death.

Biography

Early life

Thule's daughter, Jobal Naberrie

Ryoo Thule originated as a Human female on the planet Naboo, located in the Mid Rim. She had a sibling and was married to a man whose identity remains unknown, who passed away many years prior to the conclusion of the Galactic Republic. Their union resulted in the birth of a daughter named Jobal, who enjoyed a fulfilling childhood and received a quality education.

Thule maintained a close friendship with another Naboo woman, Winama Naberrie. Together, they secretly planned to unite their children, Jobal and Ruwee, in marriage, and were pleasantly surprised when the two genuinely fell in love. The young couple exchanged vows in 51 BBY. Winama's death occurred in 33 BBY, one year before the Battle of Naboo.

Ryoo Naberrie, Thule's great-granddaughter, was named in her honor. The name also belonged to a blue and yellow flower that flourished near the city of Keren.

Mourning and death

Funeral procession of Thule's granddaughter, Padmé Amidala

In 19 BBY, Thule oversaw the funeral arrangements for her granddaughter, Padmé Amidala, adhering to Naboo customs. Overwhelmed with grief at the loss of her cherished granddaughter, Thule spent the subsequent six months in mourning at Translucence Cove within Varykino.

After this extended period, Thule resolved to return to Theed, recognizing that Amidala would not have wished for her to remain isolated indefinitely. However, Thule had experienced an unusual sensation since awakening that day, but she attempted to reassure herself that it was merely anxiety stemming from releasing her grief. This seemed the only plausible explanation for her racing heart and the intense feeling of Amidala's presence that morning.

Thule abruptly realized she was not alone in the retreat. An individual named Malorum, an Inquisitor serving the Empire, had arrived to question Thule about Amidala and the circumstances surrounding her mysterious pregnancy. Upon meeting his eyes, Thule immediately understood the source of her morning's unease. She knew her death was imminent, and Malorum ultimately confirmed her premonition. Her reluctance and refusal to answer his inquiries led him to conclude that Amidala's children had survived. Subsequently, the Inquisitor murdered Thule. Shortly thereafter, Ferus Olin and Trever Flume separately arrived at Varykino. With her final breath, Thule implored Olin to safeguard her granddaughter's memory.

Olin observed him struggling in the Force, desperately clinging to his lightsaber, knowing that its loss would bring disgrace and prevent him from becoming a Sith.

Personality and traits

Ryoo Thule was described as a compact and robust Human woman, characterized by her white hair and dark gray eyes flecked with gold. She possessed a strong sense of family and held deep affection for her relatives. While walking towards the lake at Varykino, she could perceive the presence of those she had lost, including her husband and her recently deceased granddaughter, Padmé Amidala. Thule was profoundly saddened by Amidala's mysterious death shortly after the conclusion of the Clone Wars, feeling a stronger connection to her than to any of her other granddaughters. This tragedy led Thule to live in seclusion for six months.

Thule also appeared to possess a degree of precognition. On the day of her death, she awoke before sunrise with a disturbing feeling that something was amiss, and upon seeing Malorum, she immediately knew that the Inquisitor would ultimately kill her.

When Malorum confronted Thule, he sensed that the elderly woman was filled with love, strength, and courage. Despite being deeply afraid of him and anticipating her fate, Thule stood her ground against the Inquisitor, refusing to divulge the information he sought due to her love and loyalty to Amidala.
