G-5PO

Biography

Back in the year 1 ABY, G-5PO presented missions of significant importance to a spacer aiming to secure Jabba's confidence. G-5PO, acting as Jabba's voice, assigned the spacer the task of locating Scrib Leras, one of Jabba's accountants. Scrib was slated for execution by Lady Valarian because of a miscalculation that totaled four credits. Jabba, displaying a rare moment of generosity, desired to rescue the accountant, hoping he possessed valuable insights.

The spacer accepted the mission, successfully finding the accountant and safely escorting him back to the palace, which greatly relieved both Jabba and G-5PO.

After Jabba conversed with Scrib, it came to light that Lady Valarian's intention was never execution, but rather interrogation. Upon Jabba's command, G-5PO directed the spacer to locate and assassinate the interrogator, as retribution for Lady Valarian's past offenses. The spacer successfully carried out the assassination, further solidifying Jabba's trust.

Later, G-5PO informed the spacer that Romo Vax had discovered a traitor within Jabba's Court, though their identity remained unconfirmed. G-5PO further explained that the traitor had passed a message to a Valarian courier. G-5PO instructed the spacer to locate and eliminate the courier, and to secure the message for decoding. The spacer proved reliable to both G-5PO and his master. The message was successfully retrieved and handed over to Bib Fortuna for decryption. Jabba was enraged to discover that the decoded message contained a schedule of guard rotations, which the Valarians intended to exploit to infiltrate his palace. G-5PO then informed the spacer that Jabba wanted him to defeat an approaching Valarian strike team. When the spacer asked what type of strike team he would be facing, Jabba admitted his uncertainty, as the Valarians kept their membership highly confidential. He speculated that the strike team could range from a simple gang of thugs to an elite squad of commandos. Fortunately, the strike team posed no significant challenge to the spacer, who efficiently dispatched the thugs and their leader.

Meanwhile, Jabba had another assignment for G-5PO to relay to the spacer. A smuggler working for Black Sun, known as Belshu Dadar, was in the process of selling a mysterious item to the Valarians. Jabba was frustrated by his lack of knowledge regarding Belshu's merchandise, but he was convinced of its importance. G-5PO instructed the spacer to locate Belshu and purchase the item from him at a price exceeding the Valarians' offer. Fortunately, Belshu harbored no loyalty to the Valarians. He willingly exchanged the locked briefcase for the higher sum of credits offered by the spacer.

The spacer delivered the briefcase to Jabba and awaited further instructions. G-5PO soon informed him that Belshu Dadar had become a loyal subordinate of Jabba, and that Jabba was requesting the spacer to eliminate a bounty hunter who was tracking him. The spacer complied and successfully eliminated the bounty hunter, thus saving Belshu.

G-5PO presented yet another task to the spacer, involving the delivery of a case of credits to one of Jabba's associates, Sliv Jurek, in exchange for a key. When the spacer inquired about the key's worth in relation to the credits, G-5PO explained that the key provided access to a warehouse on Tatooine. Inside this warehouse was a valuable Rantok Sword, which Jabba desired to display. The spacer located Sliv Jurek and successfully obtained the key. However, the mission was not yet complete. G-5PO had a final task for the spacer. Jabba wanted the spacer to infiltrate the warehouse and retrieve the sword himself. Upon the spacer's inquiry as to why he was being entrusted with this task, G-5PO revealed that he would have preferred Boba Fett to handle it, but his fee was excessively high.

Once again, the spacer proved to be reliable. The warehouse was successfully infiltrated, and the sword was returned for proper display. G-5PO had no further tasks for the spacer, but he did inform the spacer that he had now earned Jabba's trust.

Personality and traits

Despite G-5PO's apparent loyalty to Jabba, it occasionally made unintentional remarks about its desire to escape Jabba's service.

Behind the scenes

G-5PO is a Non-Player Character (NPC) featured in Jabba's Palace within the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies. Before the implementation of the "New Game Enhancements" to Star Wars Galaxies in November 2005, the droid was integrated into a series of missions centered around Jabba's court, known as Jabba's Theme Park. He provided players with several missions that needed to be completed to finish the Theme Park and earn Jabba's Badge of Trust. Following the introduction of the New Game Enhancements, the developers removed this part of the Theme Park and G-5PO's dialogues from the game.
