A Human male named Galak Fyyar, a highly competent commander and dedicated scientist, served the Empire Reborn of Lord Hethrir. Along with Desann, he was responsible for developing Shadowtroopers, soldiers who were Force-sensitive due to the power of artusian crystals. His life ended above Yavin 4, where he was killed.
Fyyar, an ambitious officer, ascended to the position of Admiral with aspirations of controlling the galaxy. Ultimately, his reliance on technology and excessive self-assurance led to his demise. He also bore the title of "Chancellor," although its precise meaning remains uncertain.
During his time in the Empire, Fyyar gained recognition not for his strategic or leadership abilities, but for his technological advancements, collaborating closely with Emperor Palpatine. Prior to the Battle of Endor, Fyyar was stationed at the Maw Installation, but he departed to work in clandestine facilities across the galaxy shortly before the battle. Following the Emperor's death, Fyyar faded into obscurity. He eventually aligned himself with Hethrir, the former Procurator of Justice, and his Empire Reborn faction, becoming one of Hethrir's most trusted advisors. Around 10 BBY, he resurfaced on the New Republic's radar as he was consolidating Imperial Remnant forces in the Outer Rim.
He collaborated closely with Desann, another of Hethrir's key subordinates, to pioneer methods of imbuing non-Force-sensitives with the power of the Force. They conducted experiments on Kejim until Kyle Katarn destroyed the outpost. Desann and Fyyar turned this event to their advantage, using it to track Katarn to the Valley of the Jedi.
It was there that the pair put their research into practice. Artusian crystals were used to channel the Valley's energy into recruits with minimal Force sensitivity, giving rise to the dark Jedi order known as the Reborn.
Fyyar also developed armor made from cortosis, which was resistant to lightsabers. Fyyar himself wore a specialized powered armor suit equipped with a rocket launcher, a shield generator, and a heavy repeater.
The shadowtroopers, who served as the elite dark side troops of the Empire Reborn, were issued lighter cortosis armor that incorporated a focusing Artusian crystal.

With their program proving successful, Desann and Fyyar launched an attack on the Jedi Praxeum located on Yavin 4. The Doomgiver, Fyyar's flagship, departed from his secret headquarters at the Cairn Installation and arrived above Yavin 4, where it deployed ground forces.
Unbeknownst to Fyyar, Katarn had infiltrated his operations. The New Republic saboteur contacted Rogue Squadron, who attacked the Doomgiver as it emerged from hyperspace. While destroying the ship's shield generator, Katarn was surprised by Fyyar in his battle suit. However, Fyyar was too late, and Katarn destroyed the generator with a lightsaber throw. Infuriated, Fyyar attacked Katarn, but even his shielded cortosis armor was no match for Katarn, who defeated the admiral with his lightsaber. The suit then malfunctioned and exploded, incinerating Fyyar.
Steven Jay Blum provided the voice for Galak Fyyar.
During gameplay, Galak's shield generator can be disabled by destroying the antenna on his armor with weapon fire.
After the shield is deactivated, there are three methods to defeat Galak while he is wearing his Cortosis armor. The first involves using force speed in conjunction with your lightsaber to deliver exceptionally rapid strikes while his shield is recharging. Because force speed slows down the action while accelerating your movements, his shield will take a seemingly long time to regenerate, allowing you to strike much more quickly. The second method is to bombard him with force lightning, as his armor appears to be particularly susceptible to this attack. This is also effective against his shield. The third method involves using saber throw on him. This will only be effective when the shield is down, because if the player attempts to hit the shield with saber throw, the saber will simply pass through the shield, and the player will lose control of it upon entry.
The rank plaque on Galak's uniform exhibits a unique design compared to most others. Instead of comprising two rows (the top row consisting of four red bars and the bottom row consisting of four blue bars), the plaque features a single row of eight bars, alternating between red and blue every two bars. This may indicate a custom rank plaque.
According to The Essential Guide to Warfare, Galak Fyyar's rank would have been Rear Admiral.
In the Multiplayer mode of Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, his name is misspelled as "Galak Fyarr" when selected as a bot.
