Gansevor, a planet nicknamed "planet of knives," existed as a mountainous, rocky world situated within the Tammuz sector of the Outer Rim Territories, bordering the Republic frontier. Its location was remote, far from established trade routes and transport lanes, and it lacked off-world communications. Despite these limitations, the Republic welcomed Gansevor into its fold. Tozen claimed that the Republic pledged to extend its communications network to the planet and integrate it into the hyperlane system, promises he asserted were ultimately broken. Furthermore, the Republic's presence on the planet was virtually nonexistent. The planet's terrain was barren, almost entirely covered by rocky peaks. Circa 382 BBY, Firevale, a city, found itself besieged by an army hailing from the opposing city of Bethune, who accused Firevale of abducting their princess. Consequently, Seleen, the envoy representing Firevale in Gansevor's central government, dispatched a plea for assistance to the Jedi Order, prompting Jedi Masters Porter Engle and Barash Silvain to journey to Gansevor in order to mediate the dispute. Ultimately, the two Jedi successfully brought an end to the war, although it came at the cost of numerous lives in a violent confrontation.
