The Garoos, described as Garoosh (adj.), belonged to a species that were part of the New Republic. These beings were present throughout the entire structure of the Republic. As an example, a Garoosh senator participated in discussions concerning both the Caamas Document and the comeback of Grand Admiral Thrawn, while simultaneously, another Garoos, known as Cromf, acted as an informant for the smuggler called Mazzic.
Garoos possessed unique ear clusters capable of opening and closing, and their version of Basic was characterized by a strange, whistling inflection. They used gillis flaps with a purple tint for respiration.
