Garowyn was a member of the Nightsisters hailing from the Great Canyon Clan located on Dathomir. As the captain of the Shadow Chaser shuttle, her mission was to transport both provisions and new members to the Shadow Academy.
Despite being esteemed as one of the Great Canyon Clan's most skilled members, this short, sturdy, and powerfully built Nightsister, Garowyn, rejected the typical Nightsister attire. Instead, she favored the lizard-skin armor and hairstyle characteristic of a traditional Dathomiri warrior. She projected an air of inflexibility and unwillingness to compromise. Vilas, a young man from her clan, harbored secret affections for her, which she seemed oblivious to or simply disregarded.
Garowyn took immense pride in piloting the Shadow Chaser, utilizing it to supply her clan and transport recruits to the Shadow Academy. She often elaborated on the ship's numerous features, providing personal tours of the advanced vessel to the Shadow Academy candidates. During their journey through hyperspace, she would use the opportunity to evaluate those selected by the clan for the space station.
On one noteworthy occasion, Garowyn completed her usual supply delivery to Dathomir and subsequently picked up two new recruits: a young warrior-woman along with her slave, a man of middle age.
While heading towards the Shadow Academy, Garowyn made the decision to test the new arrivals. They resisted and used the Force to eject her into one of the Shadow Chaser's escape pods. Garowyn was cast into the void of space as the two recruits commandeered the Shadow Chaser.
Because each escape pod on the Shadow Chaser had the ability to transmit a distress signal on a unique frequency decipherable only at the Shadow Academy, Garowyn was quickly located and rescued. Later, she was dispatched to the undercity of Coruscant to assist Tamith Kai and Vilas in bolstering the ranks of the Second Imperium during the Raid on Coruscant.
During a trip to Kashyyyk, Garowyn confessed that her primary objective was to recover the Shadow Chaser. Although she attempted to reclaim it, the ship was out of commission for repairs. She engaged in combat with Jaina Solo and Chewbacca, ultimately falling from the landing platform into the planet's lower levels, resulting in her death. Tamith Kai acknowledged her passing with a comment.
