Baron Garto served as the male leader for one of the Nine Houses, the criminal organizations controlling the world of Shikaakwa. He was also a competitor of Baron Volnos Ryo within Clan Ryo. At some point prior to 25,793 BBY, Ryo struck a significant blow against Garto, leading to Garto's intense hatred. Seeking vengeance, Garto contracted the Devaronian killer Jaris Kan to murder Volnos Ryo, but Kan was unsuccessful in his mission.
Garto's name appeared in Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm 2, which represents the second installment of the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi comic series. John Ostrander penned the issue, and Dark Horse Comics published it on March 21st, 2012.
