Gimlet served as the partner to the "Weapons Master," known as Giles Durane. Both he and Durane were employed by Bail Organa with the task of instructing his daughter, Leia Organa, in the art of weaponry. After her training concluded, he journeyed to Challon, where he met his demise at the hands of Torgas, a deadly assassin. Gimlet's fatal attempt was to alert Princess Leia to Durane's treacherous intent to assassinate her.
During the initial period of Leia Organa's service as an Imperial senator, Gimlet partnered with Giles Durane. Bail Prestor Organa hired them to provide Leia with weapons training on Challon. Upon Princess Leia's arrival, they discovered that the Holopix News reporter, who was there to document her visit, was, in reality, an assassin. They eliminated him before he could harm Leia. After revealing the weapon intended for her assassination, they disclosed their employment by her father.
Soon after, they commenced Princess Leia's training. Gimlet, possessing a keen sense of smell, detected the presence of three assassins aboard their ship upon boarding. Giles, desiring to provide Leia with practical experience, allowed the assassins to believe they had the element of surprise. Once Giles and Gimlet dealt with the assassins, Gimlet expressed displeasure regarding the grenade used to eliminate the final one. Following the completion of her training, Leia returned to Challon. In the time between the training and the party hosted by Tchai, General Emir hired Giles to assassinate Leia, as well as Torgas, the leader of the Assassins Guild. During the party at Tchai's, Leia received a message indicating that Gimlet wished to speak with her. En route to their meeting, Torgas attacked her. Gimlet intervened, only to be fatally shot by Torgas. Leia then tried to seize his blaster, but Giles eliminated Torgas. Leia and Giles briefly mourned Gimlet's passing, but then Giles attempted to assassinate Leia himself and was killed.
