Goroth Prime, sometimes referred to as simply Goroth, existed within the galaxy and was abundant in hyperbaride, a mineral deposit found deep within the planetary crust. The Galactic Empire contracted out the hyperbaride mining operations to several affiliated groups around 10 BBY, and a significant number of local Gorothites were compelled to work in these mines. The substantial radioactivity of the mineral resulted in devastating exposure for many of the indigenous people, causing widespread harm to both them and the planet itself.
Agent Alecia Beck from the Imperial Security Bureau sought an audience with Senator Mon Mothma; however, Mothma's aide, Hendri Underholt, provided Beck with false information, stating to her that Mothma had already departed Coruscant to conduct an investigative journey to Goroth.
