Gorrister held the rank of commander within the Galactic Empire's forces. He was a male who served the Empire in the year 1 BBY.
Gorrister's early career involved service in the Imperial Navy aboard the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer known as the Vector. While on the Vector, he worked alongside stormtrooper TK329 and fellow Commander Tallos. Gorrister and Tallos frequently collaborated as a team during training exercises conducted on the Vector.
While transporting highly classified cargo from Meglumine, Gorrister and the rest of the crew were headed to Khonji Seven, located just outside the Brunet system. However, their journey through the Mid Rim was cut short. A small breach occurred in the top-secret freight, which rapidly spread throughout the ship. Medical personnel developed an anti-virus and administered it to themselves. The remaining crew then sealed off the ship and sought refuge in the Sentinel-class landing craft named Freebird, from which they broadcast a distress signal.
During his time on the Star Destroyer Vector, the Blackwing plague was accidentally unleashed, causing a widespread outbreak. Gorrister, along with other Imperials like White, Pauling, and Tanner, sought safety on the Freebird. A total of thirty individuals found refuge in the shuttle. However, due to being stranded for ten weeks, they were forced to resort to cannibalism to survive, consuming their fellow crew members until only six remained. Eventually, Jareth Sartoris discovered the stranded ship and its remaining crew.
Jareth Sartoris stumbled upon their hiding place while attempting to evade an army of the undead. Gorrister recounted the events that had transpired on the Vector and explained their means of survival. Subsequently, two crew members seized Sartoris. However, the undead learned to operate an X-wing laser cannon. Sartoris seized this opportunity to open the hatch and push out Gorrister and the two Imperials who were restraining him. The undead then tore them apart. Although his initial intention was to eject the entire crew, he ultimately spared White, Pauling, and Tanner.
