Gracalia Vatara Sienar, who went by the name Grace, served as a human female pilot within the ranks of the New Republic's Vanguard Squadron. As a member of the Sienars, a noble family from the era of the Galactic Empire that amassed their wealth through the construction of Imperial TIE fighters, Sienar made the choice to not serve the Empire, which resulted in her separation from her family. Overcome by her moral compass, she chose to rebel and contribute her skills to the Alliance. When Vanguard Squadron received their assignment to the Bormea sector, Kierah Koovah placed her trust in Sienar, designating her as her second-in-command.
