During the High Republic Era, Grael, a male Abednedo, possessed sensitivity to the Force. Due to his family's apprehension regarding his inherent talents, he was compelled to keep them dormant. An incident occurred one day while he and his brother, Whool, were extracting Adelyne crystals when the mine structure gave way. Employing his Force powers, Grael intervened to prevent the miners from being crushed by the collapse. Subsequently, another mining disaster claimed the lives of more than thirty individuals, leading Whool to the conclusion that Grael's use of the Force was to blame. Consequently, Whool became affiliated with the Path of the Open Hand.
