The torpedo sphere of Grand Admiral Pitta, a vessel measuring nineteen-hundred meters, became the command post for Grand Admiral Danetta Pitta upon his secession from the Galactic Empire to become a warlord. During the Battle of Tralus in 5 ABY, Pitta utilized the torpedo sphere to devastate the warship fleet commanded by his rival, Grand Admiral Josef Grunger; however, Grunger then deliberately crashed his flagship, the Aggressor, an action that resulted in the death of both admirals and the destruction of Pitta's starship.
The torpedo sphere of Grand Admiral Pitta was an enormous torpedo sphere, built by Loronar Defense Industries, with a diameter of 1,900 meters.
As the Galactic Empire started to break apart following the Battle of Endor, Imperial Grand Admiral Danetta Pitta declared himself an independent warlord and leveraged his wealth to establish himself as the de facto protector of the Corellian sector, assuming command of the torpedo sphere in the process. However, in 5 ABY, Grand Admiral Josef Grunger, who had assembled a fleet of starships that included thirty Imperial-class and Victory-class Star Destroyers and more than one hundred cruisers, intended to use the sector as a staging area for an assault on the Imperial capital world of Coruscant.
Pitta, compelled to defend his territory, made innovative use of the torpedo sphere, obliterating Grunger's fleet during a battle near the planet Tralus within the Corellian system. Refusing to concede defeat, Grunger defiantly steered his flagship, the nineteen-thousand-meter Executor-class Star Dreadnought named Aggressor, directly into Pitta's vessel, resulting in the destruction of the Aggressor and the death of both Grand Admirals.
The torpedo sphere used by Grand Admiral Danetta Pitta was initially referenced in the article titled "Who's Who: Imperial Grand Admirals," penned by Daniel Wallace and Abel G. Peña, and featured in the sixty-sixth issue of Star Wars Insider magazine, released on February 14, 2003. This article was a revised iteration of an article about the Galactic Empire's Grand Admirals, originally written by Wallace and Peña for Star Wars Gamer magazine.
