The issue arose when a faction within the Freelies desired more than just verbal protests. Subsequently, Grath encountered Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had secretly joined the youth group. Despite knowing that Kenobi was a Jedi, he believed that Kenobi could provide assistance. Later on, Flip, a rival of Grath, used bombs to murder a number of laborers. Ultimately, Grath brought the sabotage to a conclusion in order to engage in conversation with the workers. Nevertheless, Flip, feeling rejected at the prospect of maintaining his leader's focus, detonated a structure, resulting in numerous fatalities. Grath's father, Port, sustained injuries, which led Grath to feel remorseful about his decisions.
