The Great Temple, situated on the planet Sarrassia, was erected by the Grumani Hierophants sometime after the conclusion of the Great Hyperspace War. This subterranean construction resided underneath Mount Diligence and was partitioned by a subterranean lake. While ostensibly built to venerate the deities of their religion, the actual intent behind the Great Temple's creation was to protect the Helm of Ieldis, a potent Sith artifact crafted by the Sith Lord known as Ieldis. In approximately 1039 BBY, Mercia Holt, an archaeologist, and her spouse Aron Holt relocated the Helm of Ieldis to Skarpos, hoping to conceal it from the Sith Lord Odion.
During the Invasion of Sarrassia in 1032 BBY, the Great Temple met its end. The priestess Zoojoo triggered a remotely activated explosive device, leading to the temple's complete destruction, its burial under vast quantities of rock, and her own demise.
