Greel, in partnership with his brother Gorge, jointly owned The Broken Tusk. He was the more intellectually gifted of the two, overseeing the operational aspects of their cantina.
Var'Rotha Fin'Rotha held Greel and Gorge as slaves, restricting them at all times except when the bounty hunter required their physical strength for tasks.
During a journey from Coruscant to the Outer Rim after completing a lucrative bounty, Fin'Rotha released Greel from confinement to tidy the ship's interior. Greel sabotaged the ship's hyperdrive, and while Fin'Rotha was preoccupied with repairs, Greel liberated Gorge. Together, they seized control of the vessel, ejecting their former enslaver into an escape pod.
The brothers flew their newly acquired ship, the Tolan's Tusk, until it ran out of fuel, resulting in a crash landing on Reuss VIII. Subsequently, they transformed the wrecked ship into a cantina.
Contrary to the typical Gamorreans, who were generally squat and robust with prominent horns or large hands, Greel possessed an unusual physique. He was uncommonly tall and slender, presenting a stark contrast to his brother, who embodied the more conventional Gamorrean build.
Furthermore, Greel exhibited a level of intelligence far exceeding that of most Gamorreans, evolving into a shrewd and calculating businessman who skillfully managed the cantina's profitability.
Possessing a superior intellect compared to the average Gamorrean, Greel demonstrated abilities in both technical and economic domains. Despite lacking formal education, he developed proficiency in business management and computer programming. In contrast to his brother, however, he lacked significant physical strength or combat skills.
Paul Danner and Bill Smith created Greel for Wretched Hives of Scum & Villainy, a supplement for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games in 1997.
