A grenade
Grenades were designed as portable explosive weapons. Typically, they were propelled by hand, though grenade launchers were sometimes employed. A variety of grenade types existed, each designed for different purposes.
Thermal detonators, built to serve as a grenade, unleashed powerful explosions upon activation. The fragmentation grenade inflicted damage via its detonation, and the shrapnel it contained. To maximize the projection of the non-explosive material, its explosive yield was greater than that of standard explosives.
It was known that Electro Magnetic Pulse grenades generated electricity, which disabled mechanical devices without causing structural damage to the surrounding environment. Because of this, the Grand Army of the Republic was assisted during the liberation of Ryloth by inflicting minimal harm to the native settlements. The Separatist Droid Army were often the target of these.
Smoke bombs were implemented to confuse enemies by obscuring their vision. Sabine Wren deployed a smoke bomb to create a diversion for her fellow rebels to escape from Imperial forces during the Age of the Empire.
