Gromas 16

Gromas 16, also known as the Blood Moon, held the position of sixteenth moon orbiting the gas giant Gromas. This celestial body resided within the Gromas system, situated in the Mid Rim's Perkell sector.

Description

This moon stands out as one of the diverse, colorful satellites circling the star Gromas. Its reddish-brown soil, combined with the light from its parent star, led to its popular designation as the "Blood Moon."

With a diameter of 6,220 kilometers, this small, dry, and desert-like moon possessed a gravity level lower than standard. A day on Gromas 16 lasted 14 standard hours, while a year spanned 195 standard days.

History

Gromas 16 remained an unremarkable moon until the discovery of significant phrikite deposits. This discovery spurred prospectors to seek claims on Trancret, the sector's capital. These exploration companies enjoyed a brief period of prosperity before an Imperial task force blockaded the Gromas system and expelled the prospectors.

Following the system's clearance, the Empire established a mine on Gromas 16, along with satellite installations on other moons, to extract substantial quantities of phrikite for their Dark Trooper Project. Test refining occurred at this facility, as well as on Fest and primarily on Anteevy. Rebel operative Kyle Katarn, after finding a sample on Fest, was compelled to infiltrate the facility, where he detonated the reactor, resulting in its destruction.

After Katarn's successful mission, the Project's cancellation, and the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Empire abandoned the Gromas system. They left behind the skeletal remains of the base and unoccupied facilities on the other moons. Soon after, prospectors made their way back to Gromas, discovering the ruined base on Gromas 16.
