GX-8 water vaporator
The GX-8 water vaporator, which is also referred to as the GX-8 moisture vaporator or the GX-8 condenser unit, represented a specific model of moisture vaporator that was produced by Pretormin Environmental Corporation. The GX-8 model found widespread application in moisture farming, notably on planets such as Tatooine and Lah'mu.
Description
The moisture vaporator known as the GX-8, crafted by Pretormin Environmental Corporation, functioned to extract and purify water vapor present in the air. This apparatus converted the captured moisture into a liquid form, rendering these vaporators indispensable on planets where naturally occurring water sources were either non-existent or unsuitable for consumption. When spaced optimally at intervals of 250 meters, each unit demonstrated the capacity to gather 1.5 liters (equivalent to 1.5 quarts) of water from the atmosphere on a day basis, even under conditions of low relative humidity at only 1.5 percent. Furthermore, they could be integrated with a storage container where the chemicals were further condensed, addressing diverse agricultural requirements.
History
The GX-8 saw frequent deployment on the desert planet Tatooine, where numerous units were interconnected across expansive terrains to establish a moisture farm. Moreover, Galen Erso and his family utilized GX-8 condensers during their voluntary seclusion on Lah'mu to procure potable water, given that the planet's mineral composition impacted its water sources, rendering groundwater unpalatable.
