The Hajen-class fleet tender, measuring 375 meters in length, played a crucial role within the New Republic's New Class Modernization Program.
Hajen-class vessels, serving as resupply ships, were required to continuously travel between fleets and bases, transporting essential provisions, including sustenance, potable water, bacta, propellant, replacement components, and Tibanna. To fulfill their designated purpose, these ships incorporated rapid Class 1 hyperdrives and possessed the capacity to transport 300,000 metric tons of freight.
Hajen-class ships featured substantial automation, necessitating only a small live-in crew for operation. The typical crew consisted of just six individuals and a large contingent of droids, while a minimal crew of only two could maintain basic functionality. These vessels lacked any armament, depending on protective escorts like the Sacheen-class light escort for defense.
The Hajen-class fleet tender shared the same fundamental hull and systems as the Sacheen-class. This approach of utilizing a unified basic design across diverse configurations proved so successful that it was subsequently implemented for all later New Class ships.
Although New Class ships demonstrated combat effectiveness, their relatively compact size meant they had to compromise on cargo capacity for functionality, limiting their ability to carry sufficient supplies for extended operations; no New Class ship could transport more than five months' worth of consumables. Hajen-class fleet tenders functioned as resupply units to prolong a fleet's operational endurance.
The sole authorized depiction of the Hajen-class is present in the RPG supplement Cracken's Threat Dossier. Similar to the visual representations of other New Class ships, this image clashes with details presented in the Black Fleet Crisis novels, which served as the basis for Cracken's Threat Dossier. Specifically, the Hajen and Sacheen classes bear little resemblance to each other, despite the claim that they are constructed upon the same hull design. Consequently, this image has been deemed inaccurate and disregarded as non-canon by numerous enthusiasts.
