Hal'Sted was a Siniteen pirate of the male persuasion, whose home base was the planet Rattatak. The Nightsisters surrendered the infant Asajj Ventress to him; they were compelled to relinquish Ventress to the pirate. Ventress accompanied Hal'Sted back to Rattatak, where the pirate subsequently met his death.
Hal'Sted operated as a Siniteen pirate. He was owed a debt by the Nightsister clan hailing from Dathomir. Consequently, when her mother was forced to give her up to safeguard the clan, the child Asajj Ventress was handed over to him. Hal'Sted and Ventress shared a life on the untamed frontier of the planet Rattatak for several years. In 44 BBY, Hal'Sted was seemingly shot and killed by Weequay pirates while on the planet. Ventress rushed outside, seeking her master, only to discover his lifeless body on the ground. Ky Narec, a Jedi Knight who happened to be present on the planet and was actively fighting the pirates, encountered Ventress and decided to take her with him for training as a Jedi. However, the truth was that Narec himself was the one responsible for Hal'Sted's demise.
Hal'Sted's initial appearance was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' third season episode titled "Nightsisters," which served as its twelfth installment. The original broadcast of the episode took place on January 7, 2011.
