Rattatak, situated within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy, was a planet characterized by its mountainous terrain. After Jedi Knight Ky Narec was killed, [Asajj Ventress](/article/asajj_ventress], a former Jedi Padawan, avenged him by eliminating the warlords responsible, subsequently taking control of Rattatak. Her rule persisted until Count Dooku, a former Jedi Master and Sith Lord, discovered and recruited her.
Rattatak, a mountainous planet with at least one moon in orbit, was located in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy, specifically in grid square H-16 of the Standard Galactic Grid. This planet served as the homeworld for the Rattatakian redjacket species.
Prior to the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], [Hal'Sted](/article/hal%27sted], a Siniteen enslaver, met his end during a pirate rebellion led by Weequay raiders, leaving a young [Dathomirian](/article/dathomirian] slave named Asajj Ventress as an orphan. [Ky Narec](/article/ky_narec], a human Jedi Knight who found himself stranded on Rattatak, discovered her and, recognizing her potential, began training her in the Force as his Padawan. For a decade, they aided the inhabitants of Rattatak, gaining both allies and enemies, until Narec was killed defending a Rattataki village from a Weequay raider attack. This event caused Ventress to succumb to her grief and embrace the dark side. Seeking retribution, she murdered the warlords responsible for her master's demise and assumed control of Rattatak. In 23 BBY, [Osika Kirske](/article/osika_kirske], a Vollick warlord, set a trap for Ventress, using himself as bait during her attempt to assassinate him. Ventress was captured and forced to compete in a gladiatorial arena. While Ventress was fighting, Dooku, the Sith Lord, arrived at the arena in search of an assassin, observing her from Kirske's viewing box. Deciding to take Ventress as his Sith apprentice, Dooku decapitated Kirske with [his lightsaber](/article/dooku%27s_lightsaber], thus eliminating the warlord.
Around 5 ABY, towards the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, [Shepherd Squadron](/article/shepherd_squadron], a starfighter squadron of the New Republic, established its base on the planet. Years later, [Teza Nasz](/article/teza_nasz], a former Imperial officer and strategist, rose to power as a warlord on Rattatak, uniting a warrior clan under her command, causing some friction with [Grist](/article/grist], the Prime Minister of Grail City.
