Functionally, this weapon is a double-ended staff designed to be collapsible; it could be folded down into the handle for simpler transport and to make it easier to hide. It shares this characteristic with the double-bladed variant of the lightsaber.
The handmaiden Brianna possessed one of these staffs; this particular staff had been inherited from her father, Yusanis, a formidable General and later Senator who was personally killed by Darth Revan during the time of the Jedi Civil War.
