Hatch cracker

A hatch cracker served as a tool to circumvent the encrypted security measures safeguarding a hatch. Upon connection to a hatch, the device would display a sequence of potential security code digits on its exterior. In the event of an unsuccessful code entry, the operator could manipulate several controls to introduce an alternative algorithm. During their endeavor to gain access to the Blackstar, a customized YT-2400 light freighter under the ownership of the unlawful Reegas Vance, Khedryn Faal and Marr Idi-Shael employed a hatch cracker to breach one of the starship's outer airlocks.
