The region known as the Heart of D'vouran referred to a specific zone on the sentient world of D'vouran. Initially, this place acted as the planet's primary source of sustenance, manifesting as a profound chasm filled with animate mud extending beneath the planetary crust.
The indigenous Enzeen people would guide oblivious visitors into the subterranean depths, where they would then deposit them into the pit, offering them as nourishment for the planet. As the planet evolved to sustain itself, the necessity for the 'Heart' diminished. Subsequently, the world gained the ability to consume individuals anywhere on its surface, simply by creating a void that would pull them in.
To escape the destiny they inflicted on the tourists, the Enzeen wore special pendants. These pendants functioned as small-scale shield generators, protecting their vital energy from being consumed by D'vouran.
