Publisher's summary
The narrative of Heir to the Empire commences half a decade following the events of Return of the Jedi: The Rebel Alliance has successfully annihilated the Death Star, vanquished Darth Vader along with the Emperor, compelling the remaining elements of the former Imperial Starfleet to retreat, now holding sway over a mere fraction of their previous domain. Leia and Han are now a married couple, jointly shouldering significant responsibilities within the new Republic's government. Simultaneously, Luke Skywalker stands as the inaugural member of what is envisioned to become a fresh lineage of Jedi Knights. However, at a considerable distance of thousands of light-years, amidst ongoing minor conflicts, the last of the Emperor's military leaders seizes control over the surviving Imperial fleet. He has made two critical discoveries that could potentially dismantle the newly established Republic—a structure painstakingly erected by the Rebel Alliance. The unfolding story evolves into a grand and sweeping saga brimming with action, imaginative concepts, intrigue, and breathtaking spectacle on a galactic scale—essentially, a narrative truly deserving of the Star Wars legacy.
