Heljus was a Jedi Master of the Zabrak species (a female one, to be exact). Throughout the Cold War, she loyally served both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic in their struggles against the Sith Empire.
Heljus, a Force-sensitive individual of the Zabrak race, underwent training by the Jedi Order to harness the Force. She eventually reached the esteemed rank of Jedi Master and chose a Bith named Elsor to be her Padawan. During a campaign to defend Hoth from the Sith Empire, Heljus and her apprentice were stationed in the Clabburn Tundra, in proximity to Aurek Base.
While on a mission within the tundra, the Jedi pair and the troops accompanying them were suddenly attacked. Heljus, utilizing the Force, triggered an avalanche, which allowed Elsor to escape and return to the base to heal. However, Master Heljus herself did not make it back. The avalanche disoriented her, and the White Maw pirates blocked all communications. Despite these challenges, Heljus managed to identify the source of the disturbance in the tundra: Brutann, the Beast-Lord from Onderon. After receiving mortal wounds in their confrontation, Heljus managed to transmit a warning message to her apprentice before she died from her injuries. This information enabled a Republic spacer to locate and eliminate the beast lord, thus stopping his attacks against the Republic.
