Hintivan II, a world of significant forests and cold temperatures, held the second orbital position in the Hintivan system. This system existed within the Corva sector of the New Territories, which was a region of the Outer Rim Territories. It was the homeworld for massive trees.
During the initial years of the Galactic Civil War, which had its start in 2 BBY, the Galactic Empire exerted control over Hintivan II. A company, authorized by the Empire, conducted logging activities there, using enslaved individuals as labor. To safeguard these workers from the frigid temperatures and perilous working conditions, the company provided them with early versions of Imperial snowtrooper armor. By 2 BBY, [slavers](/article/slaver/legends] had sold Talas Piran, a Locan from the Wild Space planet Loce, to this company on Hintivan II. Piran, along with his assigned work group, was compelled to fell trees using only vibro-axes. Eventually, around 0 ABY, after many years of servitude, the Locan was able to purchase his freedom and later became a slaver himself off-world.
Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 sourcebook for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games, included a mention of Hintivan II. The 2009 reference work, The Essential Atlas, subsequently located the Hintivan system, and therefore Hintivan II, within grid square Q-3.
