Horaxes were a species of massive, azure reptile that originated on the icy planet of Nelvaan, situated in the distant Outer Rim. These creatures possessed razor-sharp teeth reminiscent of sabers, along with impressively large horns. Young Nelvaanian people were given the responsibility of collecting scales from the horaxes' tails as a rite of passage. These scales could be utilized in the creation of an elixir with the power to ward off the creatures for a full year.
The initial reference to horaxes within the official Star Wars canon appeared in the reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know, published in 2015. This reptile was initially designed for "Chapter 22" of the now non-canonical Star Wars Legends animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars, which was broadcast on March 22, 2005.
