Howard Roffman


Howard Roffman, who was born on April 18, 1953, currently holds the position of Executive Vice President, Franchise Management at Lucasfilm Ltd.. This role was assumed after The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Roffman's career with Lucasfilm began in 1980 as Legal Counsel, and he later served as President of Lucas Licensing from 1999 until 2012.

Biography

Mr. Roffman is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1977. Following his graduation, he spent one year as a law clerk, after which he joined the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Washington D.C., where he worked as an associate for two years.

In 1980, Roffman became a part of Lucasfilm as legal counsel. This opportunity arose because the role did not necessitate prior experience in the entertainment industry. His start date was two weeks before the premiere of Empire Strikes Back. He subsequently earned a promotion to general counsel. By 1984, Roffman was serving as the acting chief operating officer. Two years later, in 1986, he was appointed as the Vice President of Licensing for the company. While holding this position, he collaborated with Lucy Wilson and the LucasArts game division on the Shadows of the Empire project. In 1999, Roffman was promoted to President of Lucas Licensing.
