Lucy Autrey Wilson held the position of Director of Publishing at Lucasfilm.
Her role in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope is listed as assistant to the director. During the movie's making, Ben Burtt made a recording of a conversation between Wilson and Bunny Alsup after they had inhaled helium, and he later used digital audio editing to create alien-sounding chatter for the Chalmun's cantina scene's audio.
Wilson initially conceived the Shadows of the Empire project during a dinner meeting with Lou Aronica of Bantam Spectra. Aronica suggested that Lucasfilm's extensive licensing agreements would allow them to develop a multimedia project with a cohesive narrative across various platforms. After George Lucas gave his approval, Wilson and Howard Roffman collaborated on a short summary of the story. Wilson, who had a connection with a Portuguese individual named "Xico" and liked the sound of the name, created the name of Prince Xizor by combining the Portuguese pronunciation of the letter X (pronounced "sh-") with the second part of the word "razor." The official pronunciation of Xizor's name, "shē'zōr," was established in both the _Shadows of the Empire_ novel and Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. The character Mahd Windcaller, who appears in Crimson Empire II: Council of Blood, was designed to resemble Wilson.
