Visz had been employed by the Hutt Cartel at one time, but following a failed smuggling operation, she departed from the Cartel's employment and began her own independent operation. During the era of the Great Galactic War, she established the smuggling ring, leading it in a loose partnership with the Galactic Republic. In 3661 BBY, the Mandalorian warrior clans imposed a blockade on the Hydian Way in support of the Sith Empire. The blockade severely hampered trade in the Core Worlds and hindered the Republic's capacity to conduct warfare, leading to a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials. Visz, recognizing the blockade as a chance for immense financial gain, collaborated with her fellow smugglers to plan an assault on the Mandalorian forces. The smugglers filled freighters with commodities gathered throughout the Outer Rim Territories, and then steered the vessels straight toward the blockade. As the Mandalorians were diverted by the freighters, the contingent's fleet of compact smuggling ships launched an attack. The risky plan proved fruitful with assistance from the Republic Navy, and the blockade was successfully lifted. The Republic bestowed significant rewards upon Visz for her actions, and she was celebrated as a champion when she arrived on Coruscant.
