Ikkrukk was a planet characterized by its mountainous terrain, situated within the Mid Rim. The First Order launched an attack on this planet during their conflict with the Resistance. Ultimately, Black Squadron, a unit of the Resistance, successfully repelled the First Order forces, thereby safeguarding Ikkrukk.

Located in the galaxy's Mid Rim, Ikkrukk presented as a terrestrial planet often shrouded in clouds. The humanoid Ikkrukkian species called this planet home. Its landscape was dominated by rugged, mountainous regions. Nestled into a mountainside, Grail City stood as a heavily shielded city, further fortified by orbital and ground-based cannons and hunter-killer droids. However, sympathizers of the First Order had temporarily disabled much of this defense. During the First Order-Resistance War, Ikkrukk's government was under the leadership of Prime Minister Grist.
During the Imperial Era, Burnium Ro, a warlord, based his operations from a stronghold located on Ikkrukk. His adoption of rhetoric and imagery reminiscent of the ancient Nihil marauders, known for sowing chaos, prompted Imperial Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin to dispatch his protégé, Lieutenant Commander Ellian Zahra, on a mission to eliminate Ro, viewing him as a threat to the New Order. Tarkin provided Zahra with his personal corvette, the Carrion Spike, for this undertaking.

Following the First Order's destruction of the Hosnian system and their defeat at the Battle of Starkiller Base, they commenced assaults on various planets in an effort to assert their dominance. After the Ikkrukkians refused to surrender to the First Order, the Maxima-A class heavy cruiser Fortitude attacked Grail City. Several First Order sympathizers sabotaged the city's defense systems and killed the engineers who could have restored them. From Grail City, Prime Minister Grist issued a distress signal, hoping the Resistance would offer assistance.
Black Squadron of the Resistance, previously unsuccessful in their attempts to persuade King Siroc of Pastoria to join their cause during a mission to find more allies, proceeded to Ikkrukk, a planet identified by General Leia Organa as a potential ally. Upon arrival, the squadron intercepted Grist's distress call and headed towards Grail City, informing her that they would come to Ikkrukk's aid. Jessika Pava recognized the defense systems as FreiTek Planetary Defense systems and informed Grist that she could reactivate them if granted access through the shield surrounding the city. The Fortitude detected the approaching fighters and deployed numerous TIE fighters. Pava and Suralinda Javos managed to enter the city through a temporary opening in the shield created by the Ikkrukkians and met with Grist and her team. As they attempted to reactivate the defense grid, Javos was shot and seriously wounded by First Order sympathizers. Despite her injury, she and Pava fought past the sympathizers and rejoined Grist at the defense grid controls.
In the skies above Ikkrukk, Temmin Wexley and Karé Kun were on the verge of being overwhelmed by the Fortitude and its forces. However, Black Leader Poe Dameron, having received Pava's transmissions and convinced General Organa to allow him to assist, arrived in a starfighter borrowed from Grakkus the Hutt. With Dameron's support, Black Squadron bombed the Fortitude using its own TIE fighters, inflicting damage. Simultaneously, Pava, Grist, and Javos deactivated Grail City's shield and brought the surface cannons back online. As the Fortitude prepared to bombard the city, the reactivated cannons fired upon the cruiser, leading to its destruction. Following the battle, Grist met with Black Squadron and initially pledged Ikkrukk's support to the Resistance, but she soon retracted her promise.
Ikkrukk's debut occurred in Poe Dameron 30, a comic authored by Charles Soule, illustrated by Angel Unzueta, and released on August 15, 2018.
