InstaMist Generator

The InstaMist Generator was a fire extinguishing tool crafted by Agrierd Intergalactics during the time of the Galactic Civil War. It functioned by releasing a mist that put out fires, eventually forming a foam that smothered the flames. These were sold by Galladinium Galactic Exports for 15 credits apiece, and replacement cartridges cost 10 credits.

Description

The InstaMist Generator, manufactured by Agrierd Intergalactics, was a device used to suppress fire. Its design was straightforward: it released the contents of a high-pressure cartridge upon activation of a handle at the device's end. The cartridge, which needed to be replaced after each deployment, typically produced a mist that extinguished fire and then transformed into a flame-smothering foam. Furthermore, it could generate a smog dense enough to obscure someone, enabling them to conceal their movements and escape.

History

Galladinium Galactic Exports, a technology supplier, marketed these generators through their product datalog between the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Hoth during the Galactic Civil War, which was fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The cost of each device was 15 credits, while replacement cartridges were priced at 10 credits. These generators were commonly found in major cities and spaceports. On certain [desert](/article/desert-legends] planets, moisture farmers would use InstaMist Generators with water vapor cartridges to replicate the necessary reactions for extracting water from rock formations.

Behind the scenes

The InstaMist Generator appeared in a list of equipment and was illustrated in Galladinium's Fantastic Technology, a sourcebook published in April 1995 by West End Games for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Michael Kogge designed it for The Fantastic Technology Contest, where it received an honorable mention.
