The Interpreter functioned as a translator for Jabba Desilijic Tiure near 32 BBY in Mos Espa, Tatooine; this protocol droid was green in color.
Following Qui-Gon Jinn's accidental entrapment in Jabba's arena, the Interpreter greeted the Jedi Master at Jabba's residence. He conveyed Jabba's proposition of 50 peggats in return for Jinn's combat against Jabba's champion. Despite Jinn's rejection, he had no alternative, as the Champion was promptly unleashed upon him; Jinn defeated it using his lightsaber.
Subsequently, upon Jinn's return to the box, the Interpreter conveyed Jabba's gratitude. The Interpreter was not there when Jabba started the Boonta Eve Classic ceremony later on.
