The Ishori, a species native to the planet of Isht, shared a long-standing rivalry with the Diamala. Conflicts regarding trade and the distribution of resources frequently caused strain within their region of the Core Worlds. Back in 19 ABY, the Ishori prohibited armed Diamalan ships from entering their harbors. An attempt to mediate the conflict by the Iphigini (with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker acting as intermediaries) proved unsuccessful.
The disagreement with the Diamala swiftly escalated into a significant point of contention within the New Republic concerning the Caamas Document. While the Diamala adopted a policy of forgiveness, Ishori Senator Ghic Dx'ono became a prominent advocate for holding the Bothans accountable for their involvement in the destruction of Caamas. The simultaneous reappearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn did not worry the leaders of the Ishori Confederene, many of whom believed it was a Bothan scheme. Notwithstanding their anti-Bothan position, the Ishori fleet took part in the Battle of Bothawui against three Imperial Star Destroyers, as fleeing from an enemy that the Diamala stood their ground against would have been far too humiliating.
Ishori possessed a psychological trait described by some as a "fight or think" reaction. They struggled to engage in discussions about complex topics without becoming emotionally charged and restless. Ishori were characterized by their horn-tipped fists.
