Plot summary

The story unfolds on Entralla, where Reina Gale, a smuggler who also enjoys gambler, and her Gigoran companion, Rollos, find themselves double-crossed by Begas Tok. The setup occurs when they arrive to deliver hexa-crystals (for which they lack the necessary authorization) to Tok (who does possess the required permit). Tok has Pentastar Patrol officers waiting to apprehend them. Rollos creates a diversion, enabling their escape, and they flee through the city streets, ultimately running into the Red Moons, under the leadership of Andrephan Stormcaller. Stormcaller offers assistance to Reina and Rollos in their escape, with the expectation that they will provide a copy of the security blueprints for the Lunar Night celebrations, which are scheduled to take place a week later. The Red Moons seem to be planning an assassination during the Parade of Ghosts, but Reina is surprised to learn that the Red Moons have a different objective in mind for their war on the Pentastar Alignment. Reina consents to acquire the plans for them, in exchange for a payment of 10,000 credits.
