The Pentastar Patrol functioned as the military arm of the Pentastar Alignment. The Alignment was a successor state to the Galactic Empire that was established in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor.
Serving as the military arm for the Pentastar Alignment, the Pentastar Patrol largely consisted of a collection of former Imperial Military units and installations situated within the territory that would become the Alignment. To strengthen its military capabilities and alleviate internal strife, the Patrol permitted non-humans to enlist. This decision faced resistance from the majority of the Patrol's officers, who, as former Imperial military personnel, were deeply rooted in the tenets of Human High Culture.
Given the Alignment's commitment to isolationism, the Patrol's primary focus involved thwarting incursions by pirates and mercenaries. However, with the resurgence of Emperor Palpatine around 10 to 11 ABY, the Patrol became involved in his revived military efforts against the New Republic. Following Palpatine's demise, and the death of the Alignment's leader Ardus Kaine, in 12 ABY, the Alignment (including its military forces) was integrated into the Imperial Remnant.
The Patrol's engineering divisions collaborated with Kuat Drive Yards and Sienar Fleet Systems in the design of the Enforcer-class picket cruiser. Officer training for the Patrol was conducted at the Pentastar Patrol Academy.
