Iven, a male Human from the Imperial Guard, served as one of the Sith Emperor's personal bodyguards within the reconstituted Sith Empire. His initial rise to prominence occurred when he was a battle-hardened slave engaged in arena combat on the planet Ziost, where the Guard noticed his exceptional fighting abilities, leading to his enrollment in the Imperial Guard Academy located on the moon Yavin 4. At the academy, he astonished instructors by defeating numerous fellow cadets and even training commandants in duels, a common element of the academy's curriculum. During indoctrination, Iven displayed remarkable resistance to the Emperor's mental control, surpassing all previous candidates; however, when his resistance finally collapsed, it resulted in the fragmentation of his psyche. This transformation turned Iven into the Guard's most merciless member, characterized by an unwavering refusal to tolerate questioning of his motives or attempts at reasoning. Later in his career, Iven himself became a training commandant on Yavin 4, achieving an 80% candidate mortality rate. During the Order of Revan's assault on Yavin, which led to the academy's downfall, Iven's already unstable mind deteriorated further upon realizing his failure to protect the Emperor. Subsequently, he was apprehended by a joint Galactic Republic and Imperial coalition forces and subjected to interrogation regarding Revan's aims on Yavin.
